Building the control nobody has time to do

Zylio verifies the supplier invoices and purchasing spend of groups that process hundreds of thousands of lines a year. This is not an interface problem: it is a problem of awkward documents, real business rules and evidence that holds up.

How we work

  • Close to the real documents

Our engineers do not work on clean datasets. They see the forty-line invoices, the stapled bundles, the contracts whose indexation clause points to an index that no longer exists. That is where the product is decided.

  • One flow at a time, proven before it is extended

We do not launch eighteen-month programmes. We take one flow, make it work on real data, measure it, and only then move to the next one.

  • Evidence before promise

Our product shows the source of every statement it makes. We hold ourselves to the same rule internally: a decision is justified by a measurement, not by an intuition.

  • The customer in the room

Our field roles, the engineers embedded with our customers, spend most of their time with procurement and finance teams. What we build comes from there.

What we look for

We hire along three lines: engineering and data, product, and customer work. The people who do well here have one thing in common: they go looking for the edge case instead of setting it aside.

  • Engineering and data

Building the agents that read a contract, extract its rate schedule and check every invoiced line against it, keeping, at each step, the trace back to the document the value came from.

  • Product

Turning an edge case seen at one customer into a rule that holds at the next, and saying no when a request does not generalise. Deciding what belongs in the product and what stays a setting.

  • Customer work

Working with procurement and finance leaders, understanding their master data, their contracts and their constraints, then bringing back to the team what the documents showed.

Procurement can be learned. Curiosity about a problem other people find boring cannot.

We hire experts

We do not publish a list of openings. We hire in engineering, in product and in procurement and finance roles, at the pace of our customer projects. If the problem interests you, write to us: we reply to everyone.

Forward deployed engineer

This is the role that is most characteristic of Zylio, and the one that best explains how we work. The profile is hybrid: comfortable enough with finance and procurement to read a contract and understand why a volume rebate stopped being applied after a part number changed, and engineer enough to build the agent that will catch it on its own from now on.

A forward deployed engineer works alongside the customer, with their procurement and finance teams. They start from the documents those teams actually handle, build the control for that scope, put it into production, and then do the most important thing: they make the team self-sufficient. The engagement has succeeded on the day nobody needs them to extend the control to one more flow.

It is demanding, because there is no specification to fall back on: there are only documents, real rules and people who know what they are looking for. It is also the best seat in the company from which to understand what we are building, and why.

Our process

We do not describe a numbered set of stages. With no list of openings there is no single process: the number of conversations depends on the role and on the people you need to meet. Announcing a timeline we would not keep would be the first broken promise. Write to us through the contact form, and say what interests you about the problem.

What we do commit to: we reply to every application. If the answer is no, we say why.

What we offer

Three things are settled, and they are stated plainly. The rest is discussed with you, role by role. Our head office is in Boulogne-Billancourt.

  • A hybrid set-up

Hybrid, with time spent alongside our customers’ procurement and finance teams: part of the work happens on their site, because that is where the documents and the people handling them are. The rest is arranged with your team.

  • Learning on real documents

You will not learn on clean datasets, but on the bundles, credit notes and contracts as they arrive. It is rougher at the start, and it is what makes you useful afterwards: these cases are in no tutorial.

  • Open hiring

No degree requirement, no expected career path, no number of years in procurement. The trade can be learned; curiosity about this problem cannot: a career change reads here like any other application.

What we do not display: pay, equity, equipment and training are discussed role by role, with you. We would rather write nothing here than a range that would not hold for the role we end up talking about.

Before writing, know who to

Our thesis, the three co-founders, the advisers, and the five things Zylio refuses to do.

About

Speculative application

If none of these lines describes exactly what you do, but the problem interests you, write to us anyway. The contact form is enough: tell us in a few lines what you have built, and what you would like to build here.
